The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored public service program in India, aimed at developing students’ personality through community service. Established in 1969 under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, NSS provides a platform for college students to engage in various community service activities, fostering a sense of social responsibility, leadership, and civic engagement.

NSS volunteers participate in a wide range of activities, including health and sanitation drives, environmental conservation, education and literacy programs, disaster relief efforts, and campaigns promoting national integration. Through these initiatives, students gain valuable experiences that enhance their social consciousness and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to society.
