Event Name: National Farmers’ Day Celebration at the College of Agriculture

The College of Agriculture, Annamacharya University, Rajampet, celebrated National Farmers’ Day on 24 December 2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Chaudhary Charan Singh, who dedicated his life to the welfare of farmers. The event was attended by Dr. E. Sai Baba Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Mr. C. Yella Reddy, Vice-Chairman of Annamacharya Educational Trust, Dr. D. Lokanadha Reddy, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Ms. Priyanka, Agricultural Assistant of Tallapaka Gram Panchayat, along with farmers from nearby villages, faculty members, and students. The program commenced with a ceremonial lamp-lighting and featured discussions on the importance of agriculture, modern farm mechanization, organic farming, and government schemes designed to support farmers.

During the event, progressive farmers shared their experiences and discussed how they successfully overcame agricultural challenges through innovation and perseverance. The university honored the participating farmers in recognition of their valuable contributions to society. Speakers emphasized that agriculture plays a vital role not only in food production but also in ensuring economic security, environmental sustainability, and rural employment generation. They highlighted the growing need for organic farming practices to address declining soil fertility caused by excessive use of chemical fertilizers and encouraged farmers to adopt environmentally sustainable cultivation methods.

As part of the celebration, farmers visited various departments of the College of Agriculture and observed demonstrations conducted by second-year students on organic farming techniques. Students explained the benefits of liquid organic fertilizer (Drava Amrutham) in enhancing microbial activity and crop growth, the role of Ghana Amrutham in improving soil organic matter and long-term fertility, and the use of Panchagavya in increasing plant immunity and crop productivity. Demonstrations on Beejamrutham showcased its effectiveness in seed treatment, improving germination rates, and producing healthier plants. The event served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and strengthened the relationship between farmers, students, and the university while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
