Dr. D. Lokanadha Reddy is a distinguished plant breeder with a rich academic and professional background. He completed his M. Sc. (Ag.) in Genetics and Plant Breeding in 1983 from College of Agriculture, Rajendra Nagar followed by a university position from 1985 to 1992, and then earned his PhD from IARI in 1996. His career includes significant roles at the Seed Research and Technology Centre (SRTC), Hyderabad, where he worked from 1995 to 1999 and again from 2006 to 2008 and contributed to the development of huge quantities of high-quality seed of several crops which in turn helped to increase crop production and productivity. He also worked as the Principal Scientist (Groundnut) at the Agricultural Research Station (ARS), Kadiri for 5 years starting from 2008 and monitored the Groundnut research in the university and made ANGRAU as the top most contributor in Groundnut research and quality seed production in the entire nation. He also served as Technical Secretary to the Vice Chancellor in 2013, lead the Planning and Monitoring Cell in Guntur in 2014. He worked as Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Bapatla from 2017 to 2019. In September 2019, he became the Head of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at SV Agricultural College, Tirupati and retired as the University Head in January 2022. Throughout his career, he developed several notable varieties, including PJ-1 in jowar, PBG1 in blackgram, and morethan 10 groundnut varieties like TPT3, TPT4, Narayani, Anantha, Lepakshi, Chitravathi etc. He has published 25 research publications and has excellence in both research and administration.
