Department
Mechanical Engineering
Internships
Students can undertake industrial and summer internships alongside their coursework. The Department of Mechanical Engineering encourages students to spend time in industry, where they gain hands-on exposure to manufacturing, production, maintenance and plant operations. This improves their placement prospects and builds the skills needed for entrepreneurial ventures.
Our primary internship providers are:
- Kia India Pvt. Ltd., Penukonda
- Indo-MIM Pvt. Ltd., Doddaballapur / Bengaluru
- Dixon Technologies (India) Ltd., Tirupati
- Mangampet Barytes Project, Mangampet
- Dalmia Bharat Cement, Jammalamadugu
- Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project, Yerraguntla
- TVS Sundaram Fasteners, Chennai
- Nandi Pipes, Nandyal
- Transys Pvt. Ltd., Penukonda
- Wipro Enterprises (P) Ltd., Hindupur
- Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Kurmalguda, Hyderabad
Sectors covered: automobile manufacturing, metal injection moulding, electronics manufacturing, mining, cement, thermal power, fasteners, pipes and defence research.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Annamacharya University facilitates structured industrial and summer internships for its students during their academic years. The program is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and practical industrial application, providing students with hands-on experience in real-world manufacturing, production, and energy sectors.
Key Highlights:
- Active Participation: The program sees strong participation across multiple cohorts.
- Duration: Internships are typically intensive, ranging from 3 to 8 weeks, allowing students to deeply immerse themselves in company operations.
- Certification: Every listed student successfully obtained an official Internship Certificate from their respective host organizations upon completion.
Prominent Industries and Partners:
The department has established strong relationships with several major manufacturing and industrial corporations. Students were placed in highly relevant technical environments, including:
- Automotive & Advanced Manufacturing: A significant number of students interned at KIA India Private Limited (Penukonda) and Indo-MIM Private Limited (Bangalore/Doddaballapur), gaining exposure to automotive manufacturing and advanced metal injection molding processes.
- Electronics Manufacturing: Many students worked with Dixon Technologies (I) Limited (Tirupati), observing the intersection of mechanical engineering in electronics production.
- Heavy Industry & Materials: Placements included Dalmia Cement (Bharath) Limited (Jammalamadugu) and the Mangampet Barytes Project, where students learned about heavy machinery, mining operations, and material processing.
- Energy & Fasteners: Other notable placements included the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project (Yerraguntla) and TVS Sundaram Fasteners (Chennai), providing exposure to power generation and automotive component manufacturing.
Learning Outcomes and Objectives
By participating in these internships, Mechanical Engineering students are expected to:
- Apply Engineering Principles: Translate theoretical knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machine design into practical industrial applications.
- Understand Manufacturing Processes: Gain firsthand experience with production lines, quality control, and industrial safety protocols.
- Improve Employability: Develop professional skills, work ethic, and industry networking, significantly enhancing their chances of placement and entrepreneurial initiatives upon graduation.
