Awareness Program on Road Safety Conducted at Annamacharya University
Rajampet: In an effort to reduce road accidents, the government conducts Road Safety Awareness Month every year, as stated by District Transport Officer (DTO) Mr. Prasad. On Tuesday, the 36th National Road Safety Month celebrations were organized at Annamacharya University.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prasad emphasized that adherence to traffic rules can prevent road accidents. He stated, “If parents give us life, a helmet gives us rebirth.” He advised that two-wheeler riders must wear helmets, car drivers should wear seat belts, over-speeding is dangerous, drinking and driving is strictly prohibited, and using a phone while driving should be avoided.
He further urged all vehicle users to drive carefully for the sake of their families and stated that accident victims should be immediately taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The government also offers a reward of ₹5000 under the ‘Good Samaritan’ scheme for helping accident victims.
Additional SP Mr. Manoj Kumar Hegde also addressed the gathering and advised students to remain mentally strong and not to consider thoughts of suicide. He encouraged students to reach out to the police department if they face any issues.
Dr. S.M.V. Narayana, Principal of Annamacharya University, attended the event held on the university campus. Other dignitaries present included Rajampet Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. Vinod Kumar, Mannur CI Mr. Ali, several officials, university faculty members, and students.
