Event Name: NSS Special Camp and Community Service Activities at Hastavaram Cherlopalle Village

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Annamacharya University successfully organized a week-long special camp from 08 December to 14 December 2025 at the Zilla Parishad High School, Hastavaram Cherlopalle. The camp aimed to promote social awareness, environmental responsibility, health consciousness, and community engagement among the villagers. NSS volunteers actively participated in various service activities that contributed to the welfare and development of the local community.

During the camp, students conducted cleanliness drives in the school campus, classrooms, and surrounding areas, highlighting the importance of hygiene and sanitation. Awareness programs on a “Plastic-Free Environment” were organized through posters and slogans, and tree plantation activities were carried out to encourage environmental conservation. A health camp was also conducted where medical professionals provided general health check-ups and educated villagers on preventive healthcare practices.

The volunteers organized educational sessions for school children on the basic components of computers and conducted awareness programs on the harmful effects of child marriage. Various sports and recreational competitions were arranged for children, and prizes were distributed to the winners by the village Sarpanch. The camp was effectively coordinated by Dr. K. Janardhan, NSS Coordinator, and Mr. Raghunath, NSS Programme Officer. The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. E. Sai Baba Reddy, and Principal, Dr. S. M. V. Narayana, appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and commended their dedication to community service. The camp successfully strengthened the relationship between the university and the local community while fostering leadership, social responsibility, and a spirit of service among the students.
